Title: Senior Manager of Product Management
Company: Rapidly Growing Social Networking/Virtual World Start-Up For Teens
Location: San Jose, CA
Compensation: Up to 130K DOE + stock
Our client, a unique, fast-growing online social networking/virtual world geared toward teens, is seeking a Senior Manager of Product Management to plan its product strategy and execute on innovative site features that will enable the company's continued growth and long-term success. The Senior Manager will help lead new features throughout the entire product lifecycle, including defining the product vision and strategy; prioritizing concepts; defining product requirements; ensuring development and launch; and measuring customer feedback and success metrics.
This is a very rare opportunity to have a high impact in shaping the customer experience and in helping to build an exciting company forging ahead in new media, social networking and virtual gaming realms. This position will have no direct reports at this time.
Responsibilities:
* Define product strategies to support the achievement of key company targets for customer acquisition, engagement and revenue
* Conceive innovative and compelling feature concepts to improve the core customer experience and achieve the company's mission to become the dominant online hangout for teens
* Conduct analyses to understand the business case for product concepts to inform prioritization of the roadmap
* Define product requirements and writing PRDs
* Lead cross-functional teams, including user interface, engineering, marketing, sales and customer support, to manage feature development and ensure a smooth launch
Requirements:
* More than seven years of related industry experience, including five years experience as a product manager at a consumer Internet or software company
* Demonstrated record of success in defining and launching innovative features that delight the customer while achieving business success metrics
* Knowledge of virtual worlds/virtual goods (microtransactions) a plus
* Passion for online communities, social networking or casual (was virtual) gaming
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and project-management skills
* Ability to foster innovation through connecting with ideas from across the company, the site's community and through creativity
* Comfort working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial startup environment
* Proven ability to inspire and influence cross-functional teams
* M.B.A. or similar graduate degree desirable
